The publication of this book which is a translation from its originally written in Malay, is indeed an additional step for the Kelantan Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIK) in conveying the history of Kelantan more widely to the community, beyond the people of Kelantan.
Let me first congratulate the translators of this book, namely Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Nik Safiah Karim and Prof. Dr. Nik Rosnah Wan Abdullah for successfully producing an excellent translation of this book. The original book entitles Ikhtisar Sejarah Negeri Kelantan written by Abdul Razak Mahmud is much sought after among the lovers of the history of Kelantan. It was first published by MAIK in May 2015. The book has managed to bring together excellent inputs for the community who yearn for knowledge on the history of the state of Kelantan from various sources of reference.
MAIK took the effort for the book to be translated with the aim of furthering the community’s love for the history of their own state and at the same time to enable for the book to be as reference material for the current and future generations. A society that possesses a deep interest in the history of their state would certainly have a high spirit to sacrifice and make invaluable contributions to their state. This book is one of MAIK’s translation efforts apart from its translation works from Arabic to Malay.
